I have to be honest, I never intended to revisit this series, however The Forbidden Legend: Sex & Chopsticks became one of my most popular reviews so I felt it was only right to give you more of what you wanted. This brings me to 2009′s The Forbidden Legend: Sex & Chopsticks II, where it should be clear that there is sex but barely any chopsticks. The plot begins where the original left off, with Simon Qing feeling pretty awesome, having added another woman to his collection of concubines after murdering her husband Wu Da Lang. The story is therefore on its way to feature the inner going on’s and downfall of the Ximen household. The Forbidden Legend: Sex and Chopsticks II has a plot that resembles a soap opera, packed full of drama, scheming, and betrayals. Lastly, i’ll sum it up by saying that this film was a lot better than I thought it would be and I am glad I revisited the world.
Adding Pinky to his collection of wives means doing away with his own friend, but Simon is willing to commit more murders to serve his unchecked desires. The film again, follows a character who doesn’t apologize for his obsession with sex, yet he is a character that is going to go down the expected unsympathetic routes as we learn more of his dark streak. It really is great to see this kind of film still being made today. Nowadays, we’re in an era in Hong Kong cinema with more spit and polish. The interesting spin this movie takes is we learn that Simon’s virility was totally dependent on drugs.
